On June 13, 2016 Joseph Proenneke and four others were murdered by an illegal alien. Joseph along with his girlfriend came to visit Los Angeles from Iowa. He came to meet his biological mother, 44-year-old Mary Davis, and her husband, 59-year-old Jerry Clemons. They were also killed in the fire.
Illegal alien Johnny Josue Sanchez, from Honduras set fire to an apartment building killing Joseph and five others.
Sanchez was arrested in 2012 for illegally entering the country and released for ordered supervision. In January 2016 he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. Months later he was arrested twice on suspicion of drug possession. He was released days before setting fire to a building in which Joseph, and five others died of smoke inhalation.
