The Biden administration has appointed Kerry E. Doyle to lead the legal division at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As head of the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA), Doyle is responsible for promoting ICE’s mission and ensuring that violators of immigration and customs laws are held accountable or, as explained on ICE.gov, “OPLA serves as the exclusive representative of DHS in immigration removal proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, litigating all removal cases including those against criminal aliens, terrorists, and human rights abusers.”
